10 Simple Tips for a Successful Vegetable Garden

Many people these days have become interested in self-sufficiency instead of always relying on stores to supply them with their daily needs, they're learning how they can cut costs by doing things themselves. Here are 10 simple tips for a successful vegetable garden that you can implement straight away so that you too can start cutting costs on food. While there's a saying that some people just naturally have a knack for gardening with their "green thumb", I'm a firm believer that those people don't have a green thumb at all, they've just been patient and observant enough to see what works and what doesn't. It takes time and effort to learn the ways of plants, but everyone is more than capable of doing it.

The best way to have a successful vegetable garden comes from a combination of practice, experience, and knowledge. In the olden days our wise elders used to share the knowledge they've acquired over their lifetime with the younger generations to ensure all the wisdom was passed on in a way that their offspring would be successful in their life. Now old people live in retirement homes secluded from the rest of society, where they've been deemed unimportant and burdensome. Even though they actually have the most useful information to share. Of course some people praise their grandparents for all the things they share, unfortunately that's no the case with many people. In ancient native american tribes, the elders were considered the most sacred people in the group, and they were highly respected and valuable. I'm sure their gardens were absolutely divine! But of course their entire life depended on their ability to successfully raise a garden that was capable of feeding many adults and children alike.

These days although we no longer have all this information passed on by our elders, it's great that we still have access to amazing resources like the internet, and all the books at our fingertips. We can go to libraries to read, or we can read books online, or we can just watch a video on youtube to learn all sorts of skills that were inaccessible 20 years ago. I'm not sure whether we're better or worse off, but one thing is for sure, there are a lot fewer people nowadays who know how to raise a great vegetable garden. If you've been dabbling in the world of self-sufficency yourself, and you haven't yet invested in your own greenhouse, now is the time. And make sure to implement these 10 simple tips for a successful vegetable garden while you're at it. I won't go into detail about all the tips because that would ruin all the fun, I'll just let you watch this short 5 minute youtube video yourself, which was uploaded by the "Grow Veg" channel.
